D's 24th

~ ~
D: We can't seem to keep up with our blog updates as of late and since our last one, a lot has gone down. First up is my quiet little 24th birthday celebration.
Wore this out to a dinner with high school friends in Mad Mark's, a sandwich joint in Kapitolyo, where we chatted over Half-Baked Cookie Dough in Madagascar Vanilla ice cream (a must try)!
CDG chambray button down, Zara corduroy trousers, Vince Camuto heels
I've had these pants for the longest time but I haven't gotten around to wearing them. I know they've made all the rounds on fashion blogs everywhere but I still love them. The pattern is so fun to look at and the corduroy material isn't too thin for the Manila weather.
Been obsessed with these hand-crafted copper wire and coral/turquoise necklaces lately! I love how vibrant the colors are and how they dress up even the plainest of tops. I ended up hoarding a few designs of rings and necklaces.
Continuing to veer towards more understated shoe choices as evidenced by these taupe and black Vince Camuto heels, a gift from P for my birthday! They're pretty nondescript with just a hint of edge hidden in the heel. Thank you, Pao!
P: This was one of the thrifted shirts D found for me during one of our shopping trips. This was a lucky find because I don't usually get good-fitting clothes from thrift stores. Plus the pattern was really too cool to pass up.
thrifted top, Topman pants, Primark belt, Office shoes, H&M sunglasses
Spiffy sail boats + topsider belt details
Love how the orange buttons pop against the crisp white and navy!
Been friends with these girls for more than a decade and I'm glad to mark so many milestones with them. A special shout-out to Rosanna and Monique in London, and Tala in the States!

Second Skin

~ ~
How were your festivities, everyone? I hope you all had the best time ringing in the new year with the people you love. While P was celebrating in Hong Kong, I was doing the traditional countdown by the beach with my family! Now that the dust has settled and the smog is starting to lift, I thought I'd catch up on some outfit posts.
D: vintage army jacket, Topshop snakeskin pants, JC heels
Wore this to dinner with my favorite girls, just a casual night in. All the clothes were old favorites rediscovered at the back of my closet. Thought it might be nice to get some use out of them again.
These Topshop pants used to be an old favorite so I'm glad snakeskin had a "moment" awhile back. This army-vibe jacket is super heavy with all its zips and hardware so it doesn't get much play. I do love its overall look so I can't seem to give it up.
Got to take these JCs out for a spin and they were more than manageable. It's only on cobblestone paths that they were pretty unwieldy. Fair enough.

Looking for Lola Update: We're coming up with something exciting this 2012! Admittedly, it's been quite tricky trying to maintain the store while both of us are busy with a bunch of other things. However, we took advantage of both our long breaks and shot a ton of vintage with our friend, Maina. Collection drops soon and it's going to be a good one, folks. Follow us on Facebook for all the latest updates!

A Very Shady Christmas

~ ~
Something we look forward to during the holidays is our annual barkada Christmas party! Great food, crazy fun games, and the best company always make for an amazing time.
Meet Nina, Bianca, Rosanna, Maina, Monique, Alexi, Donna, Carms, Missy and Anjie! Can you spot LittleMissR's Versace x H&M skirt?
And here are the men that bring the crazy to the party; Mikko, Rog, Ken, Mamp, Vinci, Rigs, Alfie, Carlo, Boogie and Samboy!

 HOLIDAY FASHION
P: 21Men blazer, Topman Limited skinny cords, shirt from my tailor, Mark R shoes
I absolutely love these new cords I got as part of my Christmas present from D. I'd been looking for a pair of slimmer-fitting pants and a pair of cords so this was an obvious choice. They fit perfectly, not too tight nor too long. It's such a treat when you don't feel like your clothes need further tailoring.
I chanced upon this jacket in the F21 sale in SM Makati. A nice, light blazer is an easy way to dress up an otherwise casual outfit.
D: H&M dress, Primark leather and shearling jacket, The Ramp heels
Got the dress from the H&M branch in Paris for only EUR5! It's a bit tricky to wear (body tape!) but I love the back detail.
Brought a jacket to combat the manufactured chill of air-conditioning and the femininity of the dress with some street edge.
The jacket runs a little bigger than I prefer, but my Topshop moto jacket has died and gone to pleather jacket heaven so this one had to do.
Plus I liked how the jacket sort of tied in with my shoes! I'm not really a pump kind of girl but these are pretty cool!
These Dsquared copies are from The Ramp, one of my favorite resources for trendy fashion fixes. Speaking of, they've just launched their online shop which makes it much easier to access all of their goodies! Check out their current collection for all your New Year's party needs.
Meet another friend in my ring menagerie! Poor Mr. Octopus is missing a few legs!
Here's hoping your holidays were spectacular!

Bring the Girls to the Yard

 STATUS MAG YARD SALE
Last Saturday, Looking for Lola participated in the Yard Sale of Status Magazine held in Fiamma. Rosanna and I marked down all of our merchandise and our customers enjoyed 50% off the already sale prices!

P was an awesome salesman! Rosanna and I stepped out for two minutes to look at something and when we peeked at the booth, it was crowded with customers!
The leftovers from the bazaar are all back in our store and are being sold at super low prices. Perfect for last minute exchange gifts! Thanks to everyone that stopped by our booth! Keep checking out Looking for Lola because we have a ton in store for you coming soon!
  FASHION
F21 sweater, skirt, desert boots, vintage necklace, sunglasses from Portobello Market
Dressed for comfort because setting up a booth for a bazaar is hard work. In hindsight, a tight mini skirt probably wasn't a good idea. I love the print on it though! Fun, graphic and bursting with color is always a good choice for me.

The sweater was definitely a good call though, because Fiamma was absolutely freezing! I love this shade of mint green on anything and it kept me cozy and warm during the event. That single pocket was pretty handy too. I totally should have bought it in the other colors!
The friendship bracelet was purchased at the Eastwood evening bazaar and I got a bit lazy to assemble a whole look for my wrists so out came this airplane ring instead. Got this at Rockwell, partly because it's a lot of fun to wear to work! My preschoolers love it and we take turns flying it around the room.
Quirky accessory + entertainment tool for 3's and 4's = double duty keeper!
We're slowly catching up on our backlog! Hopefully, you all are enjoying your holidays!

Curly Cowboy

~ ~
D: So blogging has taken a backseat to life and that's not exactly a bad thing, However, we are left with quite a backlog of posts to catch up on. Here's a quick outfit post from a rare occasion I had to get dolled up for a fun shoot with a local magazine.
vintage button down, F21 shorts and belt, Topshop lace-up boot-sneaker-wedge hybrid
Went easy on the accessories since I wasn't being shot in my own clothes anyway. I guess I still looked ridiculously over made-up while running errands post-shoot. I have been curious to know what I'd look like with curly hair though so this was my chance to see if I liked it without having to commit and pay for a digiperm.
After 2 hours (and despite a ton of product), my stubborn mane decided to straighten itself out. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted! Maybe I'll take the plunge next year and get a more permanent fix.
And finally, check out my Western-themed shirt! I am totally into the loud and kind of brash print in subdued and faded colors. Hello, there are horses pulling on a carriage being ridden by a man with a musket on my top! That just screams awesome in my book.

Better Late than Never

FASHION
P: H&M tie, Bangkok shirt, Topman belt and pants, Pedro shoes
Decided to try out this military tuck that I've been seeing on street style blogs. I find that it reduces the stuffiness of wearing a tie, while still keeping you a notch above casual.

D: F21 top and earrings, Vivienne Tam velvet skirt, Dsquared heels, vintage clutch
Picked up this top from Forever 21 a while back but I only got to use it recently. I find the floral print in a subtle old rose color so charming, coupled with the bell sleeves. The skirt is so easy to throw on for dressier occasions. I've been loving the look of velvet lately, despite its matronic sensibility. Too bad the unusually warm (for this time of the year) weather isn't going to permit a lot of velvet-wearing.
Gold Dot ring filigree ring, vintage rose ring, vintage silver ball ring, H&M snake ring, vintage gold and black ring
Got to use my heels again! I really need to start wearing these more often to achieve an acceptable cost-per-wear ratio.
I love the heel detail when the light shines through the translucent material.
Really quickly, I just wanted to feature my new make-up staple. I know it's quite annoying to showcase something that isn't available for purchase in the country but if this piques your interest, perhaps ordering online or through a friend is a viable option.
Picked up this handy Fred Farrugia cosmetic kit in Sephora a few months ago. You can actually mix and match the components to your preference. The layers stack on top of one another with snaps and magnets so they stay put pretty well. They have a vast range of eye shadows, lipsticks, and blush to choose from so you can customize your kit as you please.
I picked out this hot pink lipstick one side is semi-matte lip cream and the other side is matte lip powder which tidies up the look of the bright lip. Underneath it is the best bronzer I have ever used in my entire life. It seriously looks like you have an actual tan without the shimmer that I can't stand.
