PFW: The Ramp

~ ~
 FASHION
D: vintage top, F21 bell bottoms, JS Dany platforms, necklace from The Ramp
I didn't feel like bringing on the razzle dazzle for an afternoon show, (which might be a faux pas during fashion week) but I threw on a pair of kitsch cat-eye glasses at the last minute. In other news, the trousers are made of a nice stretch fabric so they're super comfortable.
The top was a lucky find during a thrifting trip. It was actually brand new with all the tags still attached and a spare button to boot. Love the contrast navy trim and the overall 70's vibe.
I'm really liking the shorter necklace length and more structured design that's kind of trending right now. This one is a brass toned collar wrapped in leather strips with feathers dangling. Only P450 at The Ramp Crossings!
P: H&M button down, 21Men bowtie, Primark belt, Topman pants, Office shoes, River Island hat, Aldo sunglasses
As you can probably tell, I'm not a regular at Philippine Fashion Week (or any fashion show, for that matter). so I don't really have a clear idea what men wear to these events. Just thought I'd jazz up an outfit with a bow tie, since I'm not allowed to wear them to work anymore. :(
The button-down was a steal at 7 Euros at the H&M store on Champs-Elysees. I was a bit apprehensive about the yellow at first, but I knew that I needed a new color (that isn't blue or white) in my office wardrobe. Also, D randomly interjected that it reminded her of the uniform she wore in high school!
Here's a close-up of my bow tie's texture and print as well as my Goldilocks top!
THE SHOW
The Ramp Crossings had a fabulous show that was kicked off with this black and white montage. I loved the vibe of this segment, structured and clean with interesting details. I was especially fond of all the tops and outerwear they featured.
Really liking this mullet silhouette!
Loved all the capes they used throughout the show!
Another top with great movement
Interesting collar feature that looks really sharp all buttoned-up
Love the high shine and the peplum, so sassy!
The next segment showcased snake print and continued on with the black theme.
Another great mullet shape, this time in dress form.
Great swoosh in the trousers! That always adds a little spring to your step.
Lovely draping details
Finally, they had the more laid-back segment of the fashion show. This time they highlighted shades of cornflower/mustard. The models were all styled with mary-jane flatforms and black court shoes. The outfit that's front and center was one of my favorites of the show. The cape looks amazing and so does that crisp white top! The entire outfit is so eye-catching without "screaming."
Congratulations to The Ramp team on a wonderful show! Thank you for being so accommodating to us! As usual, The Ramp gives us more than a handful of reasons to visit one of their branches. You're sure to find something you absolutely must have during every visit. I can't wait to pick up some of the pieces I spotted.
We leave you with this snapshot of the cute kiddos working it on the runway! For all the mommas out there, don't forget to make a pit stop at The Ramp Kids to stock up on some fashionable new threads for your tots!

Took some pictures for this contest that I joined and I figured I didn't want to waste 'em, so here they are! I unearthed an old favorite; this skirt has been worn to occasions of all kinds. I used it for my Book Week costume as a Language Arts teacher, to parties with friends, to an 80's-themed party with family, and other random events I can't quite remember. For something so loud (it's as "un-classic" as one can get), it's pretty much a staple in my closet.
H&M striped sweater, skirt from Manang Rose, New Look heels, The Ramp necklace, vintage belt, Portobello Market sunglasses, bracelets from my preschoolers and my grandma
I've probably talked about this before but I love that the fabric of the skirt was from a random bolt that I stumbled upon at a market. I handed it over to my favorite seamstress and told her to just whip up something with it. Luckily, she decided to stuff it with tulle and pleat like crazy. No one gets me like Manang Rose!
Everything I have on has been worn to death (except the shoes and the necklace which are relatively new purchases!) as referenced by the title of the post. They all carry some sort of sentimental value and any time I slip them on, a fond memory from the time I acquired them pops up in my head. It's just like re-hearing that song that played during a memorable beach trip or smelling the scent of butter and sugar on white bread that was always in the toaster in your grandparents' house. Don't you love when that happens?
I think the some of the most successful outfits come together when composed out of stuff that you truly love and live in, rather than solely out of the trendiest  pieces of the season.

Manila Ocean Park

~ ~
FEATURE
So we've been promising ourselves that we would visit the Manila Ocean Park for the longest time now. We've been wanting to have some interesting activities, different from the mall-hopping we do around town. We finally got around to it and we had an awesome time. The posts will be split into two parts, with one on the park itself and the next on Hotel H20.
Here's a picture walkthrough of the marine life on display in the oceanarium:
You're greeted by an imposing crocodile as you enter.
Feel free to touch the starfish or (for PHP50) feed koi out of a baby bottle.
D: I was always under the impression that fish made for really lame and boring pets, but isn't this one such a cutie pie?
P: This is a pretty strange and badass fish.
Vertical, see-through fish
Love the pattern and colors of this fish!
These moray eels are awesome! They look like monster creatures with emotions.
The requisite Nemo shot
The grumpiest fish you'll ever see. This rock fish was guarding the lobster hiding behind it.
This picture is just awesome. These strange eels just stick out of the sand, incredibly still and serene.

This was a cool feature. You get to walk through a tunnel with fish and manta rays gliding overhead.
The multi-colored jellyfish section, featuring all their stages of development.
Late in the afternoon, we had the chance to watch two of MOP's feature attaractions, the South American Sea Lions. These cuties knew exactly what to do to draw oohs and aahs from the sizeable crowd. They flipped, danced, swam and even gave P a kiss!
After all the walking and touring, we decided to treat our feet to the fish spa. The small pool is filled with Dr. Fish that eat away the dead skin right off your feet, leaving them smooth and rejuvenated.
The first few nibbles from the fish sent chills down the spine but after settling in, the swarm of hungry fish was actually very relaxing. It also helped not to look while the fish were eating away!

Before calling it a day, we had a choice of either the Shark experience or the Aquanaut adventure. Since we'd rather walk underwater than be stuck in a cage surrounded by sharks, we went with the Aquanaut.
Sadly, these are the only outfit shots we took for the day.
The tank we went into was 12 feet deep and filled with tons of different sea life.
The helmets weighed 35kg above water and around 20kg below so you can imagine that it was a bit of a challenge walking around. It was definitely a one-of-a-kind experience though being so close to the manta rays, fish, and eels.
For those who are trying to save a bit, you don't have to hop on a plane to go on an adventure. Places like MOP lend some excitement to your stay in the city!
