Market Mania

~ ~
Rosanna and I have been busy hitting all the vintage markets here in London. We miss working with Looking for Lola and this trip has been just what we needed to get our creative juices flowing. Watch out for Looking for Lola updates coming very soon! In the meantime, here is the ultimate vintage shopping experience!

SPITALFIELDS MARKET

We decided to grab a bite for some energy at this charming place called Lila's Shop.

Loved the quaint, cozy vibe of the place!

This girl has it made. She looked so chill, just knitting and waiting for her cherries and her cordial.

Eggs with sage

Polish meat platter, Cheese platter, Pheasant eggs
This all made for a great meal! Simple, rustic and delicious!

FASHION

Topman clothes, River Island hat, Primark espadrilles
P: I couldn't resist using some of my shopping loot during my down time from the office. I scored the perfect woven hat from River Island last weekend. Love the literal feather in my cap!

Tartan dress, knee high socks, black ballet flats
D: No proper outfit shot because I ended up changing out of this outfit anyway. The weather is starting to get hot here again!

FOOD
We passed by this eye-catching shop the other day and decided to grab a refreshment to help combat the heat.

If you enlarge this photo of the menu, you'll see all the crazy flavors they offer!

What they do is grind up the chocolate bar/s or candy bar of your choice and throw in ice cream, milk, malt, or whatever else you want to add in. It makes for a delicious, rich drink!

D: Aero Chocolate Mint with whipped cream
 P: Mars bar with malt

To continue on with our dessert spree, we wanted to share some pictures of a shop we chanced upon at the Bricklane Market (more on that later!). It's called Kooky bakes and the two guys running it started offering a buy one, get one free promotion!

Don't they all look divine? We ended up getting the Red Velvet whoopie pie and THE BEST chocolate cupcake ever! Both were demolished in record time.

A post on the vintage markets of London coming up next!

Borough Market and Tate Modern

~ ~
We decided to take a break from all the shopping and check out the food offerings at the Borough food market. Our heads were spinning at the sight of all the delicious food that we came across!

 Turkish sweets

Rosanna and I bought a bag of fudge! The chocolate honeycomb was to die for!

 Gorgeous fresh produce!

Delicious warm mulled cider is fantastic for a cold day!

My delicious lunch: Duck sandwich with rocket and mustard, freshly brewed iced tea

After Borough, we walked along the River Thames en route to the Tate Modern museum.

Cute school girls distressed over a dying pigeon. :(

When we finally got to the Tate Modern, Rosanna and I weren't doing such a good job at focusing on the art and finding the symbolism of the paintings and sculptures. We ended up scoping people and just playing "accent-accent" while walking from display to display. We did manage to get a few snaps of the works that caught our eye!
Paper-cutting

 Dead birds

Maybe I'm shallow, but I really can't see the "art" here. I could do this to my own walls!

 Hmm..

This one was pretty impressive! Up close they look like sunflower seeds, but they're actually tiny pieces of porcelain painted to look like sunflower seeds! Each one is hand-painted and this pile is only a small fraction of the amount the artist made.

 Marble sculpture and ukay-ukay

 Suspended staircase

 Cool sculpture made from tar

I don't get this one either...

vintage dress, Gozum cape, F21 tights, Parisian nude flats
I guess I gotta work on getting some culture in!
